Recipes we LOVE!

If you like cupcakes a friend of mine who is obsessed with them has a website from all the recipes she's tried. She's so obsessed I believe she's started her own business for those lucky people in Adelaide :P

Anyway have a look, I would try a few recipes but I lack an oven at the moment.

Nom om om om om
Loving the cooler weather which is nicer to cook and eat in!

Thanks for that. I've been looking for a good tomato soup recipe, and it's always nicer to know that some one swears by a recipe like that before going for it. I've been getting into making tomato and zucchini soup lately and might modify it a bit. Usually I fry the veggies first but roasting will probably make it nicer i reckon - thanks for the tip

yes i do - thanks, good to compile sites like these for the next cup-cake adventure!

Ok, so this is what I'm making tonight. Sorry to share another Jamie Oliver recipe, but this is another fave.
Jamie Oliver's Steak and Guinness pie
http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/beef ... with-a-puf

I made this once, then again and again and again over the past couple of years and each time i change it.

This is such a great recipe. I live in shared student accommodation and everyone loves it when i make these, and they have been awesome for some of our huge dinners with 20 or more people.

- I cook it in a slow cooker. I first brown everything in a pan then add the liquid and once it is simmering I transfer it into my slow cooker and let it simmer over-night and usually into the next day. The beauty of the slow cooker is that you can add more liquid into the mix - for example i use some canned tomatoes and beef stock as well.
- don't be put off by the guinness if you don't like guinness. At first the smell might put you off but it dissapears into the flavour of the pie and can only help things. I've made it with and without and it probably doesn't make a huge difference but it makes me feel good cooking with guinness and having another can to drink at the same time!! :luv
- I put in lots more veggies than jamie. Go nuts with celery, carrot, red capsicum and finely chopped zucchini and also I chuck in heaps of mushies. The vegetables all dissolve into the mixture if you slow cook it.
- I only put pastry on top. Or if I'm trying to be healthy put mash on top instead.
- Goes so so well with peas sprinkled over the top when you serve them.
- and lastly, the rosemary is what abolutely makes thsi recipe. use fresh rosemary for best results.

Ooh Circuscat - I'll be checking that link out right now! I love cupcakes but I've yet to find a recipe for the actual cake part that I'm completely happy with.

Is Paul willing to share his chocolate macaroon recipe? I'd love to try it although understand if it is top secret!!! arghh drooling just thinking about those macaroons!!!! :eyebrows :eyebrows

There is a plan to do a big blog post with video of the macarons, but he will only do it if people call them Macaron :P I think he should do the canelles as well, they are soooo good.

Oh goodness - MACARON, MACARON, MACARON - please forgive me, Paul! :blush :blush :LOL *oops*

That sounds great. It sounds like something in which a video post would be really useful. If I learn how to make these well I think I can justify buying a Kitchen Aid mixer! ;) :P

A friend of mine wrote an entire zine called Macarons not Macaroons -- all about her quest to teach people the difference between macrons and macaroons!

actually i had never heard of either until i tasted my first Macaron (made by Paul) at Sue's place during a meet. Pretty new to me really. I tries a "macaroon" recipe and it was so disappointing so maybe that's why!?! :LOL
